What better way to showcase the needs of Japan's rapidly aging population then an adult diaper fashion show? The well-attended event was organized in part by the Aging Lifestyle Research Center and featured diaper-wearing models walking the catwalk to the beat of '80s hits like "Relax", by Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

Relaxing - and getting comfortable with the idea of adult diapers - was the whole point of the show. "Diapers are something that people don't want to look at," stated Kiyoko Hamada of the ALRC, "but if you make them attractive, then people can learn about them more easily."

It seems that quite a few of Japan's greying demographic not only are aware of adult diapers, they're making them part of their lifestyle. Over 20 percent of Japanese are over 65 and estimates published by the United Nations forecast the number of centenarians in the country to reach 1 million by the year 2050. As a market sector, the elderly have special needs and growing buying power.
According to Japan's leading business newspaper, the Nikkei, sales of the protective undergarments have doubled over the past decade to 52.5 billion yen or $500 million annually. That's one big load of nappies!

The audience of several hundred included caregivers, nursing home workers, doctors and manufacturers representatives. The models, all volunteers, held up numbers to show which model of adult diaper they wore and the audience was informed on what made one style different from another.

What is meant by 'cost per pee'?
If you spend $4.00 on a diaper and you pee in it once and then take it off and throw it away, then it has just cost you $4.00 for that pee. But, if you can pee in it 10 times before you take it off and throw it away, then it has only cost you 40 cents each time that you peed.
Your Cost Per Pee for a particular diaper depends on a lot of factors that are personal to you and your number will probably be different than your friends. Gaining the lowest Cost Per Pee in a diaper usually means that this is the most economical diaper for you.

When wearing diapers, many AB/DLs like to urinate in them, and a smaller number defecate in them. Some AB/DLs have difficulty wetting their diapers when they want to, as the result of overtrained bladders or paruresis.
A common compromise between wanting to wear diapers and needing to go about daily life is to wear diapers under normal clothing. When adult babies do so, it is in their everyday mindset, as opposed to an infantile one. A few adult babies wear diapers all the time, and may seek to develop urinary incontinence. The level of enjoyment in wearing diapers all the time is mixed, and it may have lasting effects; some adult babies have found that the enjoyment diminishes rapidly when the need to wear diapers is always present. Other AB/DLs enjoy wearing diapers intermittently more than they would enjoy wearing them all the time.

A difficult choice that AB/DLs must make involves who to tell about their interests. This offers the possibility of being accepted for who they are, and not having to hide. However, it also includes the risk of disgrace at home, school, and work.
There are as many reasons for wearing diapers as there are people who wear diapers.
The main one, of course, is incontinence. Many people are born with no bladder control or weak bladder control (or poor bowel control).
Spina bifida is a common birth defect that leaves people either poop or pee incontinent (or both).
Or, they experience an accident, such as in an auto, falling off a roof, falling down stairs, etc that damage the nerves that control the bladder control muscles.
This may only be a partial loss of control. The same applies for bowel control.
Since they no longer have complete control of their poop or pee, wearing a diaper allows them to live a normal life.

Religion: There was a topic about diapers and God. I certainly am not religious or spiritual in any sense. If a god who is all powerful and all knowing doesn't want you to wear diapers, I'm pretty sure the message would get across.
I thought it appropriate for my first blog entry to be one of self reflection. It has been an interesting journey recently because I have been getting more and more comfortable with my want to wear diapers and my liking the diapers. I have been having a harder time emotionally dealing with my incontinance. You would think that it would make it easier being an dl\ab and being incontinant but truth be told I feel more comfortable with the idea of choosing to be in diapers than "having" to wear them.

Its fun wearing diapers and being a baby girl and its great ta have my friends here to share with.
There is nothing wrong with wearing diapers infact I believe its healthy and harmless. Whats more fun than being a kid again?
I say if you love it then go for it all the way. Roleplaying is great too cause its fun to baby others too.
I wish people would come to understand us better but thats ok too cause we can still have fun thanks to places like this site here.
